At Putzig we love to bake

Most of our cakes are based on traditional recipes we have collected over the years, from our German relatives back home.

To reflect the theme of “Putzig”, we have decided to make as many cakes as possible in little tartlet shape.

Traditional German baking

We make raspberry crumble, apple crumble, various Frangipani tartlets: pear, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, as well as lemon tartlets and our famous Bavarian apple tartlets.

We make traditional German Black Forest Gateau, German Baked Cheese Cake (when we can get our hands on Quark), Linzer Torte and Strawberry Cheese Cake. Flourless options include Persian Love Cake and Orange Almond Cake.

One of the most popular cakes at Baked Poetry Café was the Vanilla Slice, which quickly proved to be a favourite at Putzig, too. Other staples are our moist, slightly spiced Carrot Cake topped with our very own tangy icing and the Caramel Walnut Slice.

We make all our biscuits from scratch, Short Bread, Walnut Biscuits, Jam Drops and Lebkuchen biscuits. Our muffins are made fresh daily, as well as croissants and almond croissants.

All-day Cafe Menu

As we can’t live on cake alone (as much as we would love to!!) we have created a simple but tasty cafe menu.

Between 7.00am and 10.30am we serve poached eggs, bacon, muesli and chia pudding and after that burgers, chips and dips.

Filled croissants and the ever-popular avocado on rye, with feta, relish and balsamic as well as croissants or toast with jam and fruit toast are also available all day until 1.00pm.
